Domain Registration article of Jezweb

Registering for a domain is one of the most basic aspects of developing a site, yet at the same time, it can be vital to a site's success. If ranking high on search engines such as Google is of high priority, then it would be advisable to register an "exact match domain". For example, if a web surfer were to search for the keyword "domain registration", then examples of an exact match domain would be domainregistration.com or domainregistration.biz.

Exact Match Domains

Exact match domain names pull a lot of weight on the Google search engine, so if a webmaster is able to find such a domain relevant to his site, this would be the one to register. The best TLD's (top level domains) to acquire are.com,.org, and.net. However, for sites that are to be used by businesses, a. biz site would not be a bad idea.

Keyword Research

In order to find relevant and high traffic volume keywords for a site's domain, it is advisable to start with Google's Keyword Tool. By entering various terms related to the site's niche, the Keyword Tool will return results of a multitude of keywords along with their search volumes. In order to get an accurate assessment of search volume, make sure the numbers are "exact" monthly searches. "Broad" monthly search numbers are not so accurate, so it is best to stay away from these statistics.

It is ideal to create a list of desirable keywords for exact match domains. Most likely, domains that contain one to three keywords in a phrase are already taken up, so it is very important to come up with a long list of alternatives that still maintain high search volumes. In order to check the availability of the domains on this list, one must browse a domain registrar.

Choose a Domain Registrar

There are many domain registrars available on the worldwide web, yet only a few are to be trusted. The two most popular domain providers are GoDaddy and Namecheap. Both of these sites regularly release coupon codes for good discounts on their various products. Webmasters should be on the lookout for these.

At either GoDaddy or Namecheap, go through the list of keywords for the exact match domains, starting with keywords with the highest search volume. There is a very high chance that these domain are already registered, so checking these domains under TLD's aside from .com, .net. or .org can be beneficial to these efforts.

Link Domain to Host Nameservers Upon purchasing and registering the domain, webmasters should already have a hosting service where the domain can be housed through nameservers. Once the domain is registered and hosted, then it is up to the web developer to bring the site to life.
